Shoemaker joins Davis Medical Center

ELKINS — Davis Medical Center welcomes Christie Shoemaker, PA-C to the caregiving team of DMC Family Medicine. Shoemaker is NCCPA Board Certified and received a Bachelor of Science in medical science and physician assistant studies from Alderson-Broaddus College in Philippi in 1996. She completed clinical rotations at Winchester Medical Center, Ruby Memorial Hospital, Physician Office Center in Morgantown, the office of Dr. Joseph DeCourten in Elkins and Valley Health Care. Shoemaker will work with the team of family medicine and pediatrics providers in the new DMC outpatient center.

“I’m excited about joining Davis Medical Center’s group of family medicine and pediatric providers.”

Shoemaker brings to DMC more than 20 years experience in family practice, pediatrics and women’s health. Prior to joining DMC Family Medicine, she was employed as a physician assistant at Arbor Medical/Valley Health Care in Elkins where she treated a wide range of patients from newborns and adolescents, to geriatrics and end of life care. She also worked as a physician assistant in the office of Dr. Gerard O’Loughlin, D.O at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon where she was a primary care provider for the family practice. “I like the aspect of family medicine … caring for newborns through seniors. It gives me an opportunity to care for entire families.”

Shoemaker and her husband, Chad, are Elkins natives, and she’s pleased to provide healthcare services in her hometown. “This community is home for our family. Chad and I both grew up here and now we’re raising our daughters, Sara and Sophie, here.”
