Local residents receive degrees from Shepherd

SHEPHERDSTOWN — Seven hundred and forty students received baccalaureate degrees during Shepherd University’s 144th Commencement on May 6. Fred T. White, senior director of business development at ABS Consulting, delivered the commencement address and also was awarded an honorary doctorate.

Among those earning baccalaureate degrees are: Kaitlyn Danielle Miller of Coalton, Robert Thompson Hall of Elkins, Haylea Michele LaBossiere and Sierra J. Malcolm of Petersburg, Jami Nicole Strawderman of Mathias, Alexis Brooke Crites and Cortney T. Stinson of Moorefield and Tyler Troy Garrett of Wardensville.

Sixty-three students received master’s degrees. Alumnus Dr. John E. Adams, Shepherd University assistant vice president emeritus for student affairs, delivered the commencement address and also was awarded an honorary doctorate.

Among the students earning a master’s degree is Tasha Morgan Whetzel of Petersburg, who received a Master of Arts in curriculum and instruction.
