HAS teachers travel for STEM training
ELKINS — Highland Adventist School faculty members recently participated in EXSEED, a 10-day training program focused on STEM skills and project based learning.
The teachers traveled to Loma Linda, California where they participated in classes on a variety of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) topics.
The training also included ideas for involving students in authentic, real-life projects that promote STEM learning and real world skill development, including robotics, engineering challenges, role of culinary classes in STEM programs, STEM challenges in the classroom, finding grant funding for STEM programs, and much more.
“We were so excited to receive grant funding from the Versacare Foundation so our teachers could attend EXSEED, an innovative and collaborative program designed to enhance integrated Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math education. The ideas and inspiration we gained will make a big difference in our classrooms,” stated HAS Principal Cheryl Jacko.
