COALTON — WV Double Tap Gun Club will host a two-gun shooting competition at the Coalton Veterans of Foreign Wars Sept. 23.

Instructor Daniel James said there have been many requests for a two-gun competition.

“This competition is great tool for anyone wanting to practice defensive style shooting; the general public, as well as law enforcement officers and task force members, would greatly benefit from this type of competition, it is also a great training drill.”

The two-gun competition will start at noon and consist of three divisions for all levels of shooters — beginner, intermediate and advanced. Prizes, trophies and ribbons will be awarded in all three divisions. There will also be a 50/50 Shoot for cash. There are no age limits and there will be a mandatory safety meeting at noon as well.

“The competition outline is available on the Club’s Facebook page WV Double Tap Gun Club, and can also be sent to potential competitors upon request via wvdtgc@yahoo.com,” stated instructor JD Blackburn.

“Please keep in mind that the outline is subject to changes that would be announced prior to the start of the competition and we also do a ‘run-through’ before competitors begin,” said Blackburn.

Club members can enter the competition at no charge; but a donation is requested of all other competitors. WVDTGC is a nonprofit organization whose mission is “to promote the safe use of firearms.” For more information, call Blackburn at 304-940-2422 or James at 304-642-8261.
