MILL CREEK — Valley Livestock 4-H Club met Sept.7 at the Russell Memorial Library in Mill Creek for its monthly meeting.

After a short business meeting, members enjoyed making a “gizmo.” Master Naturalist Sam Muncy and his fiancee came to the meeting and helped members make a box that will help them recognize the constellations in the night sky.

Members got to trace and cut out a sky map with the Big and Little Dippers and some nearby stars printed on it. They then used a push pin to poke holes in the map where the stars are located. They attached the sky map to a container with a flashlight inside and were able to view a light-up constellation. The members are now able to take their creations outside and find those constellations in the night sky.

The club will be accepting new members at its next meeting at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Russell Memorial Library in Mill Creek.
