BFD urges caution with outdoor burning

BUCKHANNON — The Buckhannon Fire Department urges citizens to be extra cautious with fire because of recent higher temperatures and lower rainfall than average.

Outdoor burning is not permitted in the city

limits.

In the county areas, outdoor burning is permitted from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. Oct. 1 to Dec. 31, however, officials advise everyone to use extra caution.

Officials recommend that residents consider postponing outdoor burning until temperatures and moisture levels return to normal.

Recent outdoor accidental fires in the region have exhibited increasingly aggressive fire behavior.

A general cooling trend is expected, but no rain is forecast until later this week.
