Bicentennial Celebration set in Weston
WESTON — The City of Weston will initiate the celebration of its bicentennial on Dec. 31 with a bonfire event from 6-8 p.m., on Asylum Drive, near the footbridge, featuring music and fireworks (sponsored by First Energy).
A separate fire pit will be set up for the roasting of marshmallows and the making of s’mores. Hot cocoa and an assortment of snacks will also be offered, all free of charge. The city invites residents to deposit their Christmas trees on the Drive on the 30th or early on the 31st to be used in the bonfire.
On the following day, New Year’s Day, a half-hour ceremony will be at the Courthouse beginning at noon in order to commemorate the 200th birthday of Weston.
