Philippi Library to host Family Fun Night
PHILIPPI — The Philippi Public Library will host Family Fun Night with Dominoes from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Families will come together to learn different ways to build, race and have fun with Dominoes.
“We want to encourage families to spend quality time together playing, reading, and just having fun,” Library Director Judy Buckner-Larry said. “At the same time, we want them to enjoy and learn more about the many programs that the library has to offer for families.”
“We began Family Fun Nights last fall with GAME ON! Family Game Night and Family Fort Night and in January we held Snowmen at Night, a late afternoon story time for all ages that included the story, building a real snowman outside, a craft, hot cocoa and cookies,” Larry continued.
“When it comes to children’s programs, we are full STEAM ahead!” Larry added. “We like to inject a little, or sometimes a lot, of STEAM into our children’s programs.”
STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math. The staff enjoys providing hands-on STEAM opportunities for children by incorporating age-appropriate educational and fun elements that promote critical thinking, skill building, team building, exploration and imagination.
The evening will include building long, winding trains with Dominoes and discovering the chain reaction or domino effect that occurs when the first domino is toppled, building a domino tower and team racing with Dominoes.
“We invite the whole family to attend and have a fun and educational evening,” she said.
Light refreshments will be provided. For more information about this program or other programs at the Philippi Public Library, call 304-457-3495.
