United Way sets elimination dinner
ROANOKE — The United Way of Gilmer, Lewis and Upshur counties will host its annual elimination dinner March 2 at Stonewall Resort.
The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with dinner being served at 7 p.m.
The drawing will begin at 8 p.m.
The last ticket to be drawn wins $1,000. There will also be a silent auction, door prizes, pull-tab games and a 50/50 drawing. This is the 15th year for this event.
“Each year we have a theme, and this year the theme is Wild Wild West. So guests can wear their cowboy hats and boots, if they want to,” said Executive Director Beckie Sias. “It’s one of our biggest fundraising events and everyone really enjoys themselves.”
The menu includes greens with tomato, cucumber and shredded carrot, choice of dressing, penne with grilled chicken breast, roasted cherry tomatoes and four cheese alfredo, sliced roast beef with scratch gravy, broccoli and cheddar casserole, potatoes O’Brien, apple pie and chocolate mint cake.
The money raised from this event will help provide support to 20 regional nonprofit agencies.
