Students offer free tax preparation
ELKINS — Davis & Elkins College accounting and finance majors are continuing to take part in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, providing free tax return preparation.
Students are available at the Elkins Randolph County Public Library on Saturday mornings through April 14. Appointments can be made by going to the library or calling 304-637-0287.
The students participating in VITA have received training and certification from the Internal Revenue Service to help prepare basic tax returns, and are under the supervision of Tom Preston, Davis & Elkins College assistant professor of accounting.
Services through the VITA program are offered free of charge to people who generally make $54,000 or less, people with disabilities and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.
