Two Sleeth Gallery exhibits set to open Monday
BUCKHANNON — West Virginia Wesleyan College Sleeth Gallery will open two exhibits on Monday: WVWC & WVSU Steamroller Print Exhibition in the Sleeth Gallery and the Student Art League Juried Exhibition in the Corner Gallery.
Both showcases are free and open the public.
The WVWC & WVSU Steamroller Print Exhibition is a result of a collaborative print event by students from Wesleyan and West Virginia State University. Students carved 4-by-4-foot wooden blocks, which were printed using a steamroller at the Clay Center for the Arts in Charleston. The imagery was inspired by an artist lecture by Sue Coe, as well as the exhibition Images of Social Justice from the Segura Studio. An artist talk will take place from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
The Student Art League Juried Art Exhibition will feature works from students across campus. The exhibition explores issues of social justice through an interdisciplinary lens spanning poetry, painting, sculpture and more. An artist talk will take place from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
The Sleeth Gallery, located on the first floor of McCuskey Hall at the intersection of East Main Street and College Avenue, is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday, or by appointment.
