MILL CREEK — Valley Livestock 4-H Club hosted a meeting March 1 at the Russell Memorial Library in Mill Creek.

After a short business meeting, members were able to enjoy a presentation by Jaylin Toler and her mother, Katelyn Toler, which focused on taking care of rabbits.

The presentation explained to the members, leaders and guests present that domesticated rabbits are much different from wild rabbits. Some domesticated rabbits have longer hair so they need to be groomed. If they are not brushed, they will try to groom themselves similar to the way a cat does. However, they do not have a way to cough up a hair ball and it could become lodged in their throat, and they would suffocate. Members also were shown how to properly groom a rabbit, as well as how to trim their toenails.

The next meeting for the club will begin at 6:30 p.m. April 5.

Information on how to join the club is available by calling Jaime or Jessica Swecker at 304-339-2866.
