Elkins native promoted to colonel


Timothy W. Vance of Elkins was recently promoted to the rank of colonel in the United States Army.

Stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, the Army National Guard’s newest “eagle” served as chief of staff for the Deputy Commanding General Field Artillery and Air Defense Artillery-ARNG.

Vance and his wife, Karma, have been reassigned to the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. He will continue to serve in a field artillery role as the task force leader for Long Range Precision Fires as part of the Army Futures Command.

Vance is the son of retired Command Sgt. Maj. and Mrs. John R. “Bob” Vance of Faulkner Road. His wife, Karma, is the daughter of Allen and Carsie White of Elkins.
