MILL CREEK — Valley Livestock 4-H club members met March 7 at the Russell Memorial Library in Mill Creek for the monthly meeting. Members held a business meeting and discussed the possibility of going to the zoo this summer.

As a special treat Jim Fregonara, of the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, presented a program on snakes. Fregonara attended the clubs February meeting and members enjoyed an educational program on owls.

For this presentation, club members, leaders, parents and also some guests to the meeting, enjoyed learning about a snake’s eating habits, how they keep warm, and what to do if someone encounters a snake in the wilderness. Everyone was able to see a variety of snakes and even have the opportunity to touch one. Each person brave enough to touch a snake received a sticker that read, “I touched a snake today.” After the program, each child in attendance got a snake of their own to take home.

The club’s next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. April 4. For more information on the club and how to join, call Jaime or Jessica Swecker at 304-339-2866 or Brenda L. Swecker at 304-335-4367.
