ELKINS — Students and staff from Highland Adventist School recently backpacked into the Otter Creek Wilderness area for a weekend camping trip. The group practiced wilderness camping skills such as fire building, putting up tents, hiking and campfire cookery.

“Our students and staff had a great time enjoying our wilderness lands,” states Don Jacko, H.A.S. outdoor skills director. “It is always exciting to see the pleasure students have when they experience wilderness camping for the first time.”

Highland Adventist School’s outdoor skills training program provides a variety of outdoor recreational experiences for students throughout the school year.
