Whetzel and Clark-Casto named chamber scholars

PHILIPPI — Dr. Tim Barry, Alderson Broaddus University president and the newly-elected president of the Barbour County Chamber of Commerce presented academic scholarships to graduating seniors Jura Clark-Casto and Cameron Whetzel during the recent Awards Day program at Philip Barbour High School.

Clark-Casto is the daughter of Anne and Brad Casto, is listed on the Principal’s Honor Roll, and is a member of the Biology Club at Philip Barbour. She was a member of the All-State First Team in Volleyball and is a two-time state champion. Outside of school, she is a church-member and participates in AAU Volleyball.

Whetzel is the son of Philippi residents Jennifer and Thomas Whetzell. His high school activities include band, tennis and the Future Business Leaders of America Club. He was also captain of the school’s soccer team and a member of the National Honor Society. Whetzell is an active member of the Barbour Church of Christ.
