ELKINS — At a recent Elkins Woman’s Club meeting, bags of hotel-sized lotions, shampoos, bar soaps and other hygiene items filled the table as women brought donations for Operation Smile to provide take-home bags for children after cleft palate surgery.

Operation Smile is an international children’s charity with a presence in more than 60 countries. It provides free life-changing surgery for children and young adults who suffer from facial deformities such as cleft palate and cleft lip.

The club also continues to serve the local community with Red Cross blood drives, Relay for Life, student educational opportunities and Randolph Tucker Child Advocacy Center, as well as many others. If you are interested, call Woman’s Club President Donna Jones at 304-642-8262.
