Class completes National Guard program

The Mountaineer ChalleNGe Academy is pleased to announce Class 1-19 as the 52nd class to complete this West Virginia National Guard Program.

Commencement exercises were held Friday, June 14 at Camp Dawson in Kingwood. A total of 155 graduates from 35 counties across the State of West Virginia successfully completed the requirements for graduation. Major General Hoyer congratulated the Cadets and gave the commencement address.

The following Cadets participated from Barbour, Lewis and Upshur counties:

Cadet Ethan Click, son of James Click of Weston, was in Platoon 2. Click was recognized for receiving the Mentorship, as well as obtaining the six Individual Values Recognition Ribbons.

Cadet Noah Davis, son of Michelle and Jason Fink of Buckhannon, was in Platoon 2. Davis was recognized for receiving the Level One PT, Mentorship, S2C Award (2), as well as obtaining the six Individual Values Recognition Ribbons. During their time at the Academy, Davis served in the following leadership positions: Platoon Leader (2), and Assistant Platoon Leader (2).

Cadet Sahara Findley, granddaughter of Kathern Findley and Mike Sypolt of Moatsville, was in Platoon 2. Findley was recognized for receiving the Instructor’s List (2), Mentorship, as well as obtaining the six Individual Values Recognition Ribbons.

Cadet Danny Hedrick, son of Danny Hedrick and Amber Delauder of Junior, was in Platoon 3. Hedrick was recognized for receiving the Commandant’s Cup (2), Honor’s List, Instructor’s List (2), Mentorship, as well as obtaining the six Individual Values Recognition Ribbons.

Cadet Hunter Ireland, son of Mark and Sloan Ireland of Buckhannon, was in Platoon 4. Ireland was recognized for receiving the Mentorship, S2C Award, as well as obtaining the six Individual Values Recognition Ribbons.

Cadet Rebekah Paugh, daughter of Mary Paugh of Buckhannon, was in Platoon 4. Paugh was recognized for receiving the Instructor’s List, Mentorship, as well as obtaining the six Individual Values Recognition Ribbons.

Cadet Andrew Wilson, son of Michelle and Gary Farris of Weston and James Wilson of Fairmont, was in Platoon 6. Wilson was recognized for receiving the Mentorship, as well as obtaining the six Individual Values Recognition Ribbons.
