Railroad Museum sets kick-off raffle, unveil special car
ELKINS — During the 2019 Elkins Auto Extravaganza, the West Virginia Railroad Museum will be showing off its Western Maryland 1946 Cadillac Rail car.
The car will be parked at the Davis Trust Company Saturday and Sunday. This is the first time that the car will be available for public viewing. It is a Cadillac turned rail inspection vehicle.
Beginning with an initial gift from the Ratcliffe Foundation in honor of Frederick D. Harman, the WVRRM has taken great strides in the Cadillac restoration with the help of Brad Curtis, officials said.
It is with excitement that the museum will be using the annual car show to kickoff the First Ride Raffle. Tickets will be available for purchase at the car show and Darden Mill Exhibit Hall for your chance to win a seat in the first official ride.
With the restoration currently underway, the date of the ride is to-be-determined. All funds from the raffle will go toward the restoration of the 1946 Cadillac Railcar.
First Ride Raffle tickets will be available $5 per ticket or 5 tickets per 20. The drawing will take place July 4, 2020.
