Garlick

ELKINS — Davis & Elkins College Assistant Dean of Students Kate M. Garlick has been named Title IX & Section 504 Coordinator. Garlick will serve in the dual role, working directly with students to provide strategic supervision and respond to critical incidents.

As a Title IX officer, Garlick will monitor D&E’s compliance with federal, state and institutional policies that promote a non-discriminatory and harassment-free environment. She also will help maintain a safe and caring campus environment through prevention education and the investigation of complaints of gender-based discrimination and sexual misconduct.

Garlick joined the Davis & Elkins Office of Student Life in August 2018, working with Vice President for Student Affairs Scott Goddard. She will maintain her office on first floor in Liberal Arts Hall.

Originally from Fairmont, Garlick has worked with adults, families and youth in the human services field, in addition to serving as membership services manager at the General Federation of Women’s Clubs international headquarters in Washington, D.C. She also has attended and volunteered for the American Legion Auxiliary West Virginia Rhododendron Girls State since 2003.

Garlick holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Wheeling Jesuit University in Wheeling and a Master of Science degree in human services management in special education from McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland.
