Elkins City Hall News

This transition into fall is a busy time for many — students, athletes, parents and your city government. Operations crews are working to finish up outdoor projects before the weather turns, while elected and appointed officials continue the work of policymaking and administration.

Next week is no exception. At 10 a.m. Monday morning the Public Safety Committee will meet to discuss several areas of concern around town as well as hear from public safety officials about what’s happening in their departments.

Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. the Police Chief Hiring Committee will meet to continue the work of finding a permanent Chief of Police for Elkins. This will be immediately followed by a Finance Committee meeting during which members will review several proposals and make the tough decisions of prioritizing the use of public monies.

The West Virginia Ethics Commission is hosting an ethics training seminar on Wednesday beginning at 11 a.m. at the Randolph County Commission chambers. This event will be focused on elected officials, but is open to the public as well and is expected to last just over one hour. Registration is not required.

On Thursday, the Fire Pension Board will meet at 10:30 a.m. and then at noon the Rules and Ordinances Committee will convene.
