West Virginia Spirit of Philanthropy Award nominations now open
Philanthropy West Virginia has announced that the nominations process for the West Virginia Spirit of Philanthropy Awards is open until Oct. 1.
The West Virginia Spirit of Philanthropy Awards Ceremony is the capstone event closing out the Philanthropy West Virginia Annual Conference & Members Meeting. This past November Philanthropy West Virginia had the largest crowd and group of honorees in its history. The 2019 West Virginia Spirit of Philanthropy Awards Ceremony will be held Nov. 7 on the final day of the 26th annual Philanthropy West Virginia Members Meeting & Conference in Parkersburg.
Since the founding of the West Virginia Spirit of Philanthropy Awards in 2007, over 40 individuals and organizations have been honored with this prestigious award for their significant contributions to philanthropy, communities and bettering our state’s quality of life. “The impact, generosity, and accomplishments of these individuals, organizations, and businesses have transformed the economic, social, educational, health, and general landscape of our state,” said Paul D. Daugherty, president and CEO of Philanthropy West Virginia. “The West Virginia Spirit of Philanthropy Awards are designed to recognize and honor these tremendous leaders who in big and small ways have harnessed the energy and impact of philanthropy, improving the quality of life of our citizens, and creating thriving communities that move West Virginia forward.”
The year 2019 marks the inaugural year for a new award category to recognize the exceptional generosity and community involvement of West Virginia’s businesses. The Corporate Responsibility Leader – West Virginia Spirit of Philanthropy Award. This new Corporate Responsibility Leader Award will recognize outstanding companies, of any size, who are actively donating, volunteering, and making a difference in local communities and the state of West Virginia.
“We invite all West Virginians to nominate the innovative individuals, organizations, and companies for these tremendous awards,” shares Daugherty. He adds, “The new Corporate Responsibility Leader Award expands this wonderful honor to recognize and promote companies who are great community partners and investors in transforming West Virginia.
