Agricultural dinner meeting set in Parsons

The second agricultural dinner meeting hosted by West Virginia University Extension Service and Tygarts Valley Conservation District (TVCD) will be Feb. 7. This event will start with dinner at 6:30 p.m. at Tucker County Senior Center in Parsons.

The speaker will be Dr. Scott Bowdridge, assistant professor of Food Animal Production in the Division of Animal and Nutritional Sciences at West Virginia University.

Bowdridge received a Bachelor of Science in agriculture science from California State University, Chico and a Ph.D. in animal genetics from Virginia Tech.

Prior to joining the faculty at WVU in 2011, he was a NIH post-doctoral fellow a New Jersey Medical School studying parasite immunology and the role of innate immune cells in host protective immune responses.

Bowdridge also serves as the faculty advisor to the ANS graduate student organization and coaches the WVU livestock judging team. He will be centering his presentation around parasite management.

All dinners require a reservation to be made the week before the dinner. You may attend just the meeting at no charge, which will start about 7:15 p.m. Also, each meeting is worth three credits toward renewal of your pesticide license.
