Weston man threatens co-workers

An employee at the Sharpe Hospital in Weston is free on $60,000 bond after being arrested this week for threatening to “shoot a bunch of people” at his workplace.

Ron Morris, 51, of 3120 Murphy Creek Road, Weston, is charged with making terroristic threats on Jan. 1 at the state hospital. He was taken to the Central Regional Jail following his initial appearance before Lewis County Magistrate Roger Clem, and he posted his bond on Jan. 2. Franklin Cornette was appointed to serve as Morris’ defense attorney.

According to the criminal complaint, a supervisor contacted the West Virginia State Police around 1 p.m., Jan. 1, alleging that Morris became upset over an issue at the hospital. The complaint stated that Morris became loud and allegedly told two other employees that he was going to go home, get his gun and shoot a bunch of people.

Morris was escorted to his residence by the hospital security staff and was later arrested by state troopers.

No preliminary hearing has been scheduled in magistrate court.
