Woman charged with smuggling drugs into TVRJ

A French Creek woman was arrested Wednesday for allegedly bringing drugs into the Tygart Valley Regional Jail.

Ginger Jean Marlow, 30, was charged with four felony counts of transporting controlled substances into a jail after she allegedly smuggled four suboxone strips into the TVRJ Jan. 25.

According to the criminal complaint in the Randolph County Magistrate Clerk’s Office, Deputy D.L. VanMeter with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office filed the complaint on behalf of Cpl. Rodney Rolenson with the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office.

Rolenson informed VanMeter that he suspected that Marlow, one of his home confinement clients, had transported controlled substances into TVRJ over the weekend.

A TVRJ inmate had informed a correctional officer, who, in turn, told Rolenson, that Marlow had received “subutex strips” from Marlow sometime over the weekend, the complaint states.

Rolenson summoned Marlow to his office, where she subsequently admitted to smuggling four suboxone strips into the TVRJ on Jan. 25.

Upshur County Magistrate Mike Coffman set bond at $50,000 cash only, and Marlow remained in the TVRJ as of presstime.

The penalty for transporting controlled substances into a jail is a fine between $1,000 and $5,000, imprisonment for two to 10 years in the state penitentiary or both, or, in the discretion of the court, confinement in jail for up to one year and a fine of up to $500 on each felony count.
