Guilty pleas entered in federal court

Three individuals entered guilty pleas Feb. 7 in United States District Court in Elkins before Magistrate Judge John S. Kull, according to a news release Monday from U.S. Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld II.

Patrick S. Crites, 46, of Moorefield, made a threat to the White House, according to the release. Crites entered a guilty plea to one count of “transmitting threatening communications in interstate commerce” on Nov. 28, 2012. He is on bond pending sentencing, and he faces up to five years imprisonment and a $250,000 fine.

This case was prosecuted by Criminal Chief Shawn A. Morgan and was investigated by the United States Secret Service.

Kelley Leigh Cohenour, 35, and William Joseph Russell, 38, of Cass, both entered a guilty plea to “possession of material used in the manufacture of methamphetamine” on April 13, 2012. Cohenour and Russell, who are on bond pending sentencing, face up to 10 years imprisonment and a $250,000 fine.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Stephen D. Warner and investigated by the West Virginia State Police and the Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office.
