Woman dies in Upshur car accident
A 22-year old woman died from injuries suffered in a three-vehicle accident along Corridor H in Buckhannon Thursday night.
According to a press release from the Buckhannon Police Department, Porscha Heston of Carolina was pronounced dead at St. Joseph’s Hospital following the accident at the intersection of U.S. Route 33 and WBUC Road in which two vehicles struck Heston’s 1998 Oldsmobile. The accident occurred at about 7:38 p.m.
According to the press release, Heston was exiting the WBUC Road, crossing U.S. Route 33 East when a 1986 Mercury Grand Marquis driven by Carl Mick of Weston reportedly struck the driver’s side of her car. Heston’s car then traveled across Route 33 into the westbound lane where it was reportedly struck by a 2006 Ford Ranger driven by Colton Hall of Weston.
An 8-year-old boy riding in the back of Heston’s vehicle was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital, according to the press release. Information about his condition was unavailable.
Mick reportedly suffered minor injuries and was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Buckhannon Police Chief Matt Gregory said weather does not appear to have been a factor in the accident, but added that the investigation is continuing.
