Bowden woman hurt in wreck
A 20-year-old Bowden woman was injured in a wreck on Kingsville Road Monday night.
Latisha Everson was taken to Davis Memorial Hospital after suffering minor injuries, when the truck she was riding in veered off the road and smashed into a tree, Cpl. K.A. Corley with the Elkins detachment of the West Virginia State Police said.
The accident occurred at about 7:15 p.m.
Corley said Everson was sitting in the passenger seat of a white 1999 Ford F-150 truck driven by Matthew Moore, 24, of Junior, when Moore swerved off the road to avoid an unidentified oncoming vehicle that had merged into his lane. The maneuver caused Moore’s truck to collide with a tree.
“He (the driver) said someone was in his lane and he had to swerve off the road to avoid hitting the car,” Corley said.
The driver of the unidentified vehicle reportedly left the scene of the accident, Corley said.
Moore emerged uninjured. No citations were issued.
In addition to the WVSP, the Coalton Volunteer Fire Department and Randolph County EMS responded to the scene.
