Midland Elementary and Elkins High School students to be transported home

Students at Elkins High School and Midland Elementary schools will be transported home by bus beginning at 9:45 a.m. today. A bomb threat at approximately 8 a.m. prompted the schools to be evacuated.

“After speaking with law enforcement officials, we have determined the safest thing to do is dismiss the students,” said Interim Superintendent of Randolph County Schools Terry George. “We are waiting for the K-9 units to sweep the schools. Because of the time it takes for the schools to be deemed all clear, we have decided to transport all students home by bus.”
