Annual Babe Ruth fundraiser set in April

The annual fundraising dinner and dance for Elkins Babe Ruth Baseball League will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Elks Lodge on Country Club Road.

The dinner is sponsored entirely by Elk Lodge 1135; all proceeds are used to pay for the league’s charter and insurance.

Kevin Blosser, exalted ruler for Elks 1135, said the event is carrying on an Elks tradition of helping the league since 1978.

“We’ve been a major sponsor of Babe Ruth Baseball for 35 years.

“This fundraiser ultimately affects nearly 100 local kids by helping them get involved in sports and represent their community in a positive way,” Blosser said.

The evening’s agenda begins with a social hour at 6 p.m., followed by an Italian dinner from 7 until 8 p.m., and ends with a dance from 8 to 11 p.m. In addition to dinner and dancing, attendees have the chance to win cash prizes. The grand prize is $500. In addition, $100 will be awarded every 15 minutes between 8 and 9 p.m.

“In total, we will be giving away $1,000 during the evening,” Blosser said.

Tickets for the event are $25 per couple, and are available at T-Mart on S. Davis Avenue in Elkins. Tickets also will be available at the door.
