Heavner Grove CEOS meets in April

The Heavner Grove CEOS had its April meeting at the Mount Rupert Church. Lunch snacks were provided by Helen Lantz, hostess. The meeting was called to order, followed by the flag salute and devotions by Hilda Ketterman.

The Lord’s Prayer was recited by all. The roll call and minutes were given by Secretary Helen Lantz. Eloise Tenny gave the treasurer’s report. Shirley Warner, Joyce Zirkle and Jean Kelley participated in the community baby shower. Reminders were given about the good and purposeful reading. Clubs were given points for the amount of books read.

The achievement awards dinner was attended by 11 members and one guest. Ribbons were won by Zirkle, Warner, Terry Morrison, Tenny and Ketterman. Heavner Grove was awarded second place for the poster designed by Warner and Gloria Wright. Health Motivator Sharon Carr gave a presentation on the mango fruit and its health benefits, along with a fresh fruit to taste. She also gave a lesson on mushrooms.

A thank-you card was read from the family of Charles Godwin. Well-wishing cards were sent to Sara Kerns, Oneta Stone and Kevin Goodwin. Kerns is now a resident of Crestview Manor in Jane Lew.

A new member, Rosetta Kelly, was welcomed to the club. The monthly lesson, “Cashing in on the Coupon Craze,” was led by Zirkle. She gave some great ideas for benefiting from coupon use.

Current events by Winnie Hoover cost each member a dime.

The members displayed their ribbons and exhibits from the achievement awards dinner for show and tell. Judy Haddix won the door prize.

The Heavner Grove CEOS will host a flea market, bake sale and hot dog sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 2. The proceeds will benefit club projects.

The next meeting is at 1 p.m. on May 8 at Mount Rupert Church.
