Solid Waste Authority to offer camp scholarships

Randolph County Solid Waste Authority is offering two scholarships to the Junior Conservation Camp at Cedar Lakes near Ripley in June.

The camp is sponsored and coordinated by the West virginia Department of Environmental Protection and is available to any interested student who will by 11 by June 17, through the age of 14. The purpose of the camp is to help students learn more about the environment and conserving natural resources.

If not applying for a scholarship, the cost is $165 per camper, which includes archery, canoeing, camp cookery, geocaching and swimming, along with wildlife and water study, first aid, forestry, fishing techniques, recycling and hunter safety.

Junior Conservation Camp and scholarship applications may be picked up from the Randolph County Commission office in the Courthouse Annex. The deadline for scholarship applications is April 25.
