Belington man arrested for DUI
Philippi police officers arrested a Belington man this week on a driving under the influence – third offense charge.
Jason Wayne Mongold, 35, of Route 2, Box 112-1A, is being held at Tygart Valley Regional Jail in lieu of a $5,000 bond. If convicted, he could spend one to three years in jail and be fined from $3,000 to $5,000.
The Philippi Police Department received a call Monday from the West Virginia State Police regarding a possible drunk driver in a white Ford F-150 driving near Baughman Towers in Philippi, the complaint filed in Barbour County Magistrate Court stated.
The complaint also stated that an officer witnessed Mongold driving the vehicle. When the officer caught up with the Ford F-150, it was parked at 210 S. Main St. on the sidewalk area. The officer then reported seeing Mongold stumble while exiting the vehicle. The complaint also stated that the officer detected an alcoholic odor on Mongold, who allegedly failed four field sobriety tests.
Mongold could not show the officer a valid driver’s license, but handed him a West Virginia Identification Card, the complaint stated.
Mongold reportedly told the officer he did not have a driver’s license, the complaint stated.
McVickers Towing took possession of the Ford F-150, the complaint said.
