D&E Concert Choir to perform at Robbins Chapel
The Davis & Elkins Concert Choir will present its Spring Concert at 8 p.m. today in the D&E Robbins Chapel.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature D&E artist-in-residence Jack Gibbons and student flutist Katy McClane.
The Concert Choir will be premiering a short piece written by Gibbons titled, “Oh, What Comes the Sea,” and McClane will be playing a solo movement selection also written by Gibbons.
The D&E choir will sing a variety of its spring repertoire including: “Salmo 150,” sung in traditional Latin and composed by Brazilian composer Ernani Aguiar; “Creation Hymn” sung in a classical style and written by Heather Sorenson; “Follow Jesus” featuring soloist Amanda Erickson and composed by John Purifoy; a contemporary version of the traditional 1872 hymn “I Need Thee Every Hour” by Vicki Tucker Courtney; and a Josh Groban arrangement of “You Raise Me Up.”
The Concert Choir is under the direction of Elizabeth Marshall-MacVean and accompanied by instructor of music Donna Baroudi-Huffman. For additional information, call the Davis & Elkins College Department of Fine and Performing Arts at 304-637-1212.
