Man killed in school bus wreck

The Barbour County Sheriff’s Department is continuing its investigation into a Tuesday morning crash that claimed the life of 50-year-old Larry T. Vincent.

According to the sheriff’s department, Vincent was traveling north around 8 a.m. on U.S. 119 near the Valley View Road in a Ford Tempo when his car crossed the center line and into the path of a southbound Barbour County Schools bus. The driver of the bus reportedly veered toward a ditch in an attempt to avoid a collision, but the Tempo collided head-on with the school bus,

The driver of the school bus suffered unspecified injuries. There were no students on the bus, as they had just been dropped off at Volga-Century Elementary School, the police report stated.

Vincent was pronounced dead at the scene by the medical examiner.

The West Virginia State Police, the Barbour County Sheriff’s Reserve, the Philippi Volunteer Fire Department and the Philippi Emergency Squad all assisted at the scene.
