FBI searches Buckhannon DOH facility
Records and documents were seized Tuesday when West Virginia state troopers and FBI agents executed a federal search warrant at a Division of Highways facility near Buckhannon.
The search warrant was requested through the U.S. Attorney’s office for the Northern District of West Virginia in Wheeling, said spokesperson Chris Zumpetta Parr. She said she could not comment on the content of the documents or the volume of records confiscated. Parr also said she could not comment on the specifics surrounding the probe.
Parr, however, did say that no arrests were made as a result of the search warrant.
The search was done at the Equipment Division facility located at the intersection of U.S. 33 and Brushy Fork Road. That agency maintains equipment for the highway department and other state agencies, along with handling fuel purchases for all state agencies.
Department of Transportation spokesman Brent Walker said state officials are aware of the investigation and are cooperating with the federal agencies, though he said it is not clear as to the matter that is being investigated.
“We don’t know what they are looking for at this point,” Walker stated. “We’re certainly cooperating with them.”
