Man, infant casualties in car crash

BELINGTON – An early morning wreck claimed the lives of a man and an infant girl in Barbour County Monday.

Corporal S.P. Miller of the Barbour County State Police said the crash occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m.

“The accident involved one vehicle that rolled over in the turn just past Dianne’s Restaurant on U.S. Route 250 in Belington,” Miller said. “There were three victims – two have died and the third was transported by ambulance to Broaddus Hospital for treatment.”

The driver of the vehicle, Janel M. Sturm, 27, lost control of her vehicle and rolled it before stopping against a guardrail, First Sgt. Michael Baylous said in a press release from the West Virginia State Police Office of Public Affairs.

A 7-week-old infant, Raele Marie Felton, and Travis W. Felton, 29, were ejected from the vehicle. Both passengers died as a result of injuries, police said.

Miller said the accident is still under investigation at this time. Emergency crews responding to the crash included the Barbour County State Police, the Barbour County EMS, and the Belington and Philippi fire
