TVRJ inmate charged with sexual abuse

A Tygart Valley Regional Jail inmate was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing another inmate, authorities say.

Cody Trevor Harris, 28, of Mabie was charged with first degree sexual abuse, a felony, after Randolph County Sheriff’s Office officials were dispatched to the jail. Officers were advised by Sgt. Danial Cutright that an incident had taken place between Harris and his cell mate, according to the police report.

The alleged victim told police he had been sharing a cell with Harris since September. According to the police report, the alleged victim said Harris “did not bother him” at first, but after a week or say began to say things of a suggestive nature. Later, Harris would disturb him at night, poking the alleged victim in the side with his fingers or rubbing his leg, and then climb back into his own bunk, according to the police

report.

The alleged victim said on Oct. 4 Harris climbed into his bunk and began to sexually assault him. The alleged victim said he was able to ward him off and climbed out of his bunk until Harris went back to his own bunk and fell asleep, the report states.

Harris’ bond was set at $25,000 cash only by Chief Magistrate Ben Shepler.
