Holiday musical set
ELKINS – The First Baptist Church is opening its doors for two festive nights of Christmas-themed entertainment with a purpose.
Members are inviting the community to their Christmas musical, “We Have Our Savior.” The performances will take place at 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday in the church sanctuary.
“‘We Have Our Savior’ is a Christmas worship experience for the modern church. It tells the story of Christ’s birth from a unique perspective and takes the congregation on a musical journey from Christ’s birth to a pinnacle response of worship at the end,” said worship leader Nick Smith. “The musical involves the FNBC Worship Choir, Praise Team, hand bells, dance and Clubhouse Kids and is sure to be an exciting and worshipful experience for people of all ages.”
The musical tells the Christmas story through the story of Jesus Christ’s birth, but it does so from some different perspectives, such as Joseph’s. The show will feature an assortment of music and include guitars, hand bells and many other musical instruments.
“We made it our own,” Smith said. “It’s a little more edgy and modern.” The show will end with a call to worship where show patrons are invited to stand and sing
“We hope that because of ‘We Have Our Savior’ the community has a proper reflection of the sacrifice God made when sending His son. We want this to be a call to worship for the community that claims to be Christians. This is an opportunity to worship together from all denominations in a Christmas setting,” said Smith.
“We Have Our Savior” was published by Brentwood-Benson Music Publications and created in Nashville, Tenn. It is arranged by Cliff Duren and composed by the creative team of Duren and David Moffitt.
People are urged to come out early as the hand bell players will perform Christmas favorites prior to the musical. Following the musical, the Fellowship Board will host a reception in the Fellowship Hall.
