One killed in Lewis wreck

WESTON – The identity of the person killed in a three-vehicle wreck in Lewis County last week cannot be released until the completion of an autoposy report with dental records,

police said.

The Friday morning accident in Lewis County left one person dead and another injured. a spokesperson with the Weston Police Department, the investigating agency, said Monday. The spokesperson said the time frame for the autopsy report’s completion is not yet known.

According to a press release submitted by Deputy Chief J.P. Thomas of the Weston Police Department, the accident occurred at mile marker 99 on Interstate 79 in Weston around 6:19 a.m. Friday morning.

Two passenger cars were traveling in the southbound lane when they collided. After colliding, both cars drifted into the median between the north and southbound lanes, but one of the two cars continued on, eventually colliding with a flatbed truck traveling north.

The injured person was transported to Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital.

In addition to the Weston Police Department, the Lewis County EMS, the Weston Fire Department, the Jane Lew Fire Department, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office and the West Virginia State Police all responded to the scene.
