Sexual assault charges filed

ELKINS – A Beverly man was arrested Thursday for allegedly having sex with an 11-year-old girl, police said.

Jared Michael Iseli, 20, was charged with two counts of first degree sexual assault. Iseli was arraigned by Randolph County Magistrate Rob Elbon and was being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $150,000 cash bond as of presstime.

According to the criminal complaint, prepared by Senior Trooper S.E. Hevener of the Elkins detachment of the West Virginia State Police, officers received a complaint from a man Monday saying his 11-year-old daughter had been sexually assaulted, and had been taken to United Hospital Center in Bridgeport to be examined by a sexual assault nurse examiner.

Police spoke to the girl’s parents, who said their daughter left their residence early on Sunday morning, and was eventually located not far from her house, according to the complaint. The parents said their daughter told them she had snuck out to meet a male subject, later identified as Iseli, the complaint reads. Police were able to obtain Iseli’s phone number from the juvenile’s phone, according to the complaint.

The girl told police she snuck out of her home on Sunday and Iselie picked her up, driving her around for several hours with another male in the car, and then took her to his residence, the report states. The girl said Iseli told her he was tired and went into his bedroom; she said she followed and they had sex, the complaint states.

The girl said Iseli took her home afterward and told her he had to drop her off at “the bottom of her road,” advising her that “if he got caught, he would go to jail,” the complaint reads.

The girl told police she also had sex with Iseli on Nov. 29, according to the complaint.

On Wednesday, officials spoke to Iseli, who told them he met the girl at a park in Elkins and had maintained contact with her via Facebook and text messages, the complaint states. Iseli told police he had sex with the girl on two occasions, and said she told him that she was 13 years old, the complaint states.
