Plane crashes near Buckhannon
BUCKHANNON — A single-engine plane has crashed on Brushy Fork Road near Buckhannon.
The accident was reported about 6 p.m. Saturday by witnesses who saw the plane, a Cirrus SR 22, go down.
According to rescue personnel, the plane was equipped with a parachute-safety system, which the pilot used to land the disabled aircraft.
Upon impact, the plane struck a pick-up truck that was passing by Brushy Fork Road.
Neither the pilot or driver of the truck were injured.
Officials with the Department of Transportation, West Virginia State Police, Upshur County Sheriff’s Office and Federal Aviation Administration currently are investigating.
Traffic remains blocked on both U.S. 33 South and Brushy Fork Road. As a result of the traffic stoppages, another minor auto accident was reported. No injuries were reported as a result of the secondary collision.
