Ramps & Rail Pageant seeking contestants

ELKINS – The sixth annual Ramps & Rail Festival is looking for contestants for it’s first ever Ramps & Rail Pageant to be held April 5 at the Old Brick Playhouse in Elkins.

The pageant is searching for contestants for three different categories – Miss Ramps & Rail, Miss Teen Ramps & Rail and two mascots: one male, known as Mr. Ramp/Engineer and one female, known as Miss Ramp Bouquet.

Miss Ramps & Rail contestants must be 16-21 years of age, Miss Teen Ramps & Rail contestants must be 13 to 16 years of age and the mascot contestants must be 7 to 13 years old.

Entry fee for the pageant is $70 and the contestant must live in Randolph or a bordering county.

The winner of the Miss (16-21 age group) will receive an all-expense paid trip to compete in the State Fairs & Festivals Pageant that is held in Charleston. The winner will also receive a $2,500 scholarship to West Virginia Business College in Morgantown.

Prize packages, crowns and sashes will be supplied for winners of each category along with the winners being involved in the festivities of the Ramps & Rail Festival being held on April 26.

This pageant is part of a statewide program known as State Fairs & Festivals and includes 90 festivals and pageants from across the state.
