Barbour woman charged with grand larceny

PHILIPPI – A Philippi woman is free on bond after being arrested on charges of allegedly stealing more than $1,000 from Shop ‘n Save in Philippi.

Christa Lynn Marshall, 38, was charged with one felony count of grand larceny after allegedly stealing $1,162.33 throughout several months of her employment with the grocery store.

According to the criminal complaint on file at the Barbour County Magistrate Clerk’s office, an internal investigation was allegedly conducted by the store, which released video recordings and copies of sales receipts from Marshall’s assigned register to the Philippi Police Department.

Sgt. Scott Gillis of the Philippi Police Department interviewed Marshall, and allegedly obtained a confession from her. Marshall allegedly told the officer she had stolen the money and was very sorry, the complaint states. She has since posted a $2,000 surety bond.
