Escaped prisoner caught in Upshur

BUCKHANNON – Police captured an escaped prisoner in Buckhannon over the weekend, making a methamphetamine-related arrest in the process.

Sandra Williams, 34, a prisoner who escaped from the Huntington Work Release program about six months ago, was captured Saturday at a residence on Wilson Hollow Road near Audra State Park, police said.

Trooper D. J. Lowry, of the Buckhannon detachment of the West Virginia State Police, arrested Williams and also discovered precursors used in the production of methamphetamine, according to s State Police press release. Both Williams and Terry L. Duke, 27, from Buckhannon, were arrested for attempting to operate a clandestine laboratory and conspiracy to commit a felony, police said.

Williams was returned to the custody of the Department of Corrections, while Duke was transported to the Tygart Valley Regional Jail to await arraignment in Upshur County, police said. The Upshur County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the investigation.
