Fire at empty house under investigation
JUNIOR – Officials are investigating a structure fire that occurred early Sunday morning in Junior .
Junior Fire Chief Danny Bismark said he called the West Virginia State Fire Marshall to investigate a structure fire in an empty home during the early morning hours Sunday. When asked if the fire was suspicious, Bismark said he did not yet know.
“I’m not real sure; there was power in the house,” he said. “I contacted the fire marshall’s office. They will do an investigation.”
Officials with the Belington EMS and 30 firefighters with the Junior, Belington and Coalton volunteer fire departments all responded to the 12:45 a.m. house fire on the corner of Ted Ware Road and River Road, Bismark said, adding that it took about an hour to get the fire under control.
“It’s totally destroyed,” Bismark added. “It never burned clear down, but the inside of the house was burned completely up.”
