New business offers homemade food

ELKINS – Pam Kelley is hoping to connect with the community of Elkins by providing great food and excellent service at her new diner, The Lunch Box, located in the Tygart Valley Mall.

The diner offers homemade recipes for breakfast and lunch Monday through Saturday. Kelley said what sets the diner apart from other food destinations is the family’s dedication to serving the best burgers and hotdogs in the area.

“I always wanted to have my own restaurant, and my family and I decided this was the time to do it,” Kelley said.

Kelley, with the help of her daughter Jodi and a full-time cook, Chel Anderson, are happy to welcome the Elkins community to the diner.

“Everyone has been very supportive in the community so far,” Kelley said. “(Elkins Mayor) Van Broughton stopped by to see how we were getting along. We’ve received a warm welcome.”

Kelley sees the restaurant as not just a personal venture, but also as a way to give back to the community.

“We love talking and getting to know people.” said Kelley. “We really look for that engagement and connection with the people we serve.”

Kelley said the menu will offer many breakfast items, such as eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes and omelets. Lunch items include half-pound, double and tower (triple) burgers; hotdogs with homemade chili; homemade sandwiches including clubs, Reubens and Rachels; sides like homemade pasta, potato and macaroni salads; fresh-cut fries; and much more.

There are plans for additional features to be added to the diner, including a coffee bar, a lunch buffet with soup and salad, and dinner items, Kelley said.

The Lunch Box is open Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information on The Lunch Box, call 304-591-4575.
