PBHS evacuated for bomb threat

A bomb threat was reported at Philip Barbour High School at about 2 p.m., police said. The school was evacuated, and the students were sent home at 3 p.m.

The school was searched by the Philippi Police Department, the Barbour County Sheriff’s Department and officers from the West Virginia State Police’s Philippi detachment.

At 4:20 p.m., officials said the main school facility was clear and nothing had been found.

Super said the threat would not affect the scheduled performances of 22 bands Saturday morning at PBHS. Bands from several counties, including Barbour and Randolph Counties, will be performing at the high school, with the first of those shows scheduled for 9:50 a.m., Super said.
