Glendale Park additions completed

ELKINS – A much-needed addition to an Elkins park has been completed and officials came out to celebrate and admire the final

Glendale Park in Elkins finally has a concession stand and a public restroom that have been built with the cooperation of members throughout the community. The restrooms are handicap-accessible and provide a storage area for youth football and soccer program equipment.

Elkins Mayor Van Broughton said Tuesday he was pleased with the addition and that it was a long time coming.

“It’s huge what we’ve been able to accomplish,” Broughton said. “I want to thank the whole community for coming together to make this possible. This will help us to continue to grow more activities and events used by all ages.”

Phil Gainer, director of the Elkins Parks and Recreation Commission, said the building, and all of the work done to the park, has been made possible because of the hard work and generosity of the community.

“We have invested over $1 million in Glendale Park now with the completion of this project,” Gainer said. “I want to thank all of the people who have been able to come together to make this park what it is today.”
