ELKINS – The Allegheny (Insurance) All Nighters Randolph County Relay for Life team have secured $3,000 for the American Cancer Society and have the opportunity to win up to $10,000 more though a voting contest sponsored by Safeco Insurance
Team member Amy Mullenex said she wrote the original contest application for the team.
“I based our application on Cindee Campbell, a cancer survivor who works at Allegheny Insurance,” Mullenex said. “Our entry was selected along with 29 others to receive $3,000. Folks can now go online and vote for our cause. The top group receiving votes will receive an additional $10,500 for their cause and the second place will receive $5,000 (in) additional monies for their cause.”
Mullenex said folks may vote online once daily through May 19. The online address for voting is www.safeco.com/about-safeco/community/make-more-happen-vote.
“Whether or not you can make it to the Randolph County Relay For Life, we would appreciate everyone going on once daily and clicking to vote for our team,” Mullenex said. “It gives people around the county and across the country an opportunity to help us help fight cancer.”
The Safeco Insurance Make More Happen contest features nonprofit organizations across the country and the independent insurance agencies that make more happen for them by volunteering.
The Randolph County Relay For Life is slated for June 7. During the event, the Allegheny All Nighters will be selling Zul’s frozen lemonade and will offer two raffles to raise funds for the fight against cancer. One raffle will be for a hand-made blanket and another will feature an etched fire pit donated by Liberty Machine
Allegheny Insurance Company has been a gold member sponsor of the Randolph County Relay For Life since 2003. Additional information about the Allegheny All Nighters is available by calling Mullenex at 304-637-9610.
